Rowbike, Health Benefits with Physical Disabilities
|
Rowbike allows individuals with physical disabilities to experience the health benefits of rowing, coupled with the thrills of motion. The four-wheel Rowbike provides the necessary stability that these individuals require, as well as the means to operate a moving fitness machine in ways that would not be possible with other machines such as a bicycle.
Right out of the box, the Rowbike is remarkably easy to use and already accommodate's of special needs individuals, ranging from single leg amputees to double amputees, various back injury victims and on to the more common knee and hip replacement individual.
Example: Just using the upper body, with the Power Lever attached to the drive chain and the seat locked in place, allows the rower to isolate his or her upper body.
The sliding seat allows single leg amputees to use the Rowbike and is favored as a rehabilitation tool. Since the Rowbike puts little to no impact on knees or joints, it makes the machine ideal for those who have trouble with these areas. Being able to isolate specific muscle groups helps build strength and stamina and is a great supplement to a physical therapy program.
One of the best things about the Rowbike for our amputee owners is that it gives them a chance to really get out and have a blast! Customer Joe Allen reports that Rowbike gave him back a sense of freedom and each time gets on his Rowbike he gets a rush. "I'm telling you once I got on this thing it has been hard to get me off. I wake up and its the first thing I think about. If I had the time I would Rowbike to and from work instead of drive," says Allen.

I am a recovering Spinal Cord Injury patient and was encouraged by my Physical Therapist to look into the 420-Crewzer. Before the injury, I was an avid runner and mt. biker. The Rowbike has given me the freedom to "get out" again and obtain the exercise I once enjoyed, working both my upper and my recovering lower body. In fact, I ride nearly 50 miles a week.
Thanks Rowbike!

Thank you Rowbike for opening up a whole new world of recreational enjoyment and exercise for me. I am an amputee, having lost my left leg to cancer. Before that, I bicycled regularly for fitness and for the pure pleasure of it. It was one of those things I missed most after my amputation. For exercise, I bought a rowing machine. It worked perfectly as an exercise machine for an amputee, but it was BORING! When I heard about Rowbike I was immediately interested. A rowing machine on wheels!
I wanted to recapture the bicycling experience that I had been missing. Your 60 day trial period gave me confidence to give it a go. I have not been disappointed. It took a bit of determined effort to master because of my handicap, but now I ride my Rowbike with confidence with no special accessories whatsoever. It's a great feeling to take it out and feel the wind in my face and watch the scenery glide by while I'm exercising. Best of all, I can now join my friends and family members who also like to ride.
I'm not an athlete. I'm 52 years old, reasonably fit, and active. I only ride a few times a week, but am definitely getting more exercise than before and its fun! Thank you again. I love my Rowbike!
