Rowbike, Rowling Safely

We strongly recommend the following safety tips:

Rowing on your Rowbike is just like other forms of exercise. It can be a powerful cardiovascular workout. If you're just starting to work out, do yourself a favor and consult with a doctor. Rowing is health-maintenance.

Wet weather riding impairs traction, brakes, and visibility. The risk of an accident is dramatically increased in wet conditions. Proper maintenance of your Rowbike is your responsibility and helps reduce the risk of injury.

As with any new activity you need to get started with the right conditions, similar to when learning how to ski, Rollerblade or bicycle. Do this by reading the "Getting Started" section of the users manual for specific startup operations and precautions to take.

Like any recreational activity on a bike path, the Rowbike requires you to be aware of your surroundings and to be careful when riding. With any recreation, there is a risk of damage or injury. You inherit this risk by choosing to ride the Rowbike. Be sure to practice and become familiar with the rules of safe and responsible rowing.

Always follow the simple rules when rolling:

  • Always make sure your Rowbike is in good working condition.
  • Always wear a helmet.
  • Always wear a good pair of shoes that grip the footrest properly, and give you better traction when starting and stopping.
  • Familiarize yourself well with the controls of the Rowbike before going out for your first rowl.
  • Wear bright, visible clothing that is not too loose (loose clothing could catch on moving parts of the Rowbike).
  • Follow all local law enforcement laws pertaining to these types of recreational activities.

Stay off city streets!

  • Look ahead of where you're going, and beware of
    • Vehicle slowing or turning in front of you, entering your path or lane ahead of you, or coming up behind you.
    • Pedestrians stepping out in front of you.
    • Potholes, sewer grading, railroad tracks, expansion joints, debris and other obstructions that could cause you to swerve into traffic, catch a wheel or otherwise cause you to lose control and have an accident.
  • Never ride with headphones!
  • Never carry a passenger. The Rowbike was designed for one person and one person only. Attempts to carry more than one person can result in serious injury.
  • Never carry anything which obstructs your vision or control of the Rowbike, or which would become in tangled in the moving parts of the Rowbike.
  • Don't do stunts, wheelies or jumps. They can cause injury and damage the Rowbike.
  • Never ride your Rowbike under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • You must put the power lever in the forward position when going over speed bumps or curbs.
